The National Commission for Culture and the Arts is one of the government agencies and institutions tasked to allocate 5% of the annual GAA Fund to finance activities on Gender and Development (GAD).
In the 2017 GAD Plan and Budget, it was identified that one of NCCA’s clients/beneficiaries, the Indigenous Women, lack awareness on GAD concepts. In vew of this, the Technical Working Group of the NCCA GAD Focal Point System, under the leadership of Ms. Adelina Suemith, GAD Executive Committee Member, included in the GAD Plan the conduct of a GST for selected IP Women in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
The Gender Sensitivity Training for IP Women aims to:
1. To become a more gender-sensitive person and a more empowered women of their cultural communities;
2. To learn the meaning of sex and gender and their differences from each other;
3. To know the gender stereotypes commonly attributed to men and women;
4. To share some aspirations for the family, school, and community.
