The Viet Nam Cultural Days in the Philippines will be held on 12-16 July 2016 in Manila and in Bulacan.

This year, in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of Philippines -Viet Nam bilateral relations, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and the Ministry of Culture and Sports and Tourism (MOSCT) of Viet Nam, will hold the Viet Nam Cultural Days in the Philippines and the Philippine Cultural Days in Viet Nam, respectively.

The Viet Nam Cultural Days in the Philippines will be held on 12-16 July 2016 in Manila and in Bulacan. Said event shall feature the Youth Theatre of Viet Nam and an exhibition of Viet Nam’s pride, lacquer and brocades. The delegation shall be headed by the Deputy Minister of Culture Sports and Tourism, His Excellency Vuong Duy Bien.

The Youth Theatre of Viet Nam was founded on 10 April 1978. With nearly 40 years of active engagement in artistic activities, the group has achieved many accomplishments in and out of Viet Nam. Through its participation in national and international festivals and exchanges, exciting interpretations of Vietnamese music, with contemporary and folk dances are brought to varied audiences all across the globe. The group has an impressive pool of accomplished directors and artists that stages productions to showcase Viet Nam’s proud performing arts traditions:  Program Director – Honored Artist Trong Thuy (Silver Award at International Music Festival); Le Anh Tuyet (Silver Award at International Music Festival); young artists,  Ton Son, Kien Trung, Anh Tuan; together with the dancers, Minh Ly, Mai Lan, Truong Son, Thanh Cong, Giang An, Thu Hien, Hoang Hien Huyen Luong, Kim Tuyen; and the traditional music band.

The gala presentation of the Youth Theatre of Vietnam will be held on 13 July 2016, at 7:00 in the evening at the Cultural Center of the Philippines Little Theater. An outreach performance will be held on 14 July 2016, at 6:00 in the evening, at the San Isidro Labrador Parish Church in San Jose Del Monte City,  Bulacan.

The accompanying exhibition on Vietnamese Lacquer and Brocades, on the other hand, shall feature a collection of traditional lacquer products; Ao dai (Vietnamese traditional costume), wedding costume of ethnic Red Dao people, and other Vietnamese ethnic minority groups of H’Mong, E De, Lo Lo, etc.; a collection of dolls in ethnic costumes; and different kinds of brocades. This exhibit aims to introduce to the Filipino public, a facet of Viet Nam’s rich textile tradition and cultural heritage, to foster better appreciation of the creativity and genius of its peoples. 

The Vietnamese Lacquer and Brocades exhibition will open on 13 July 2016, at 2:30 in the afternoon, at the NCCA Gallery B in Intramuros, Manila. Exhibition viewing will run until 15 July 2016.

The Viet Nam Cultural Days in the Philippines is being presented in cooperation with the Cultural Center of the Philippines, the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam in the Philippines, the Malolos Local Government and San Isidro Labrador Parish Church in Bulacan.
