The Young Historian’s Prize aims to recognize outstanding works by young Filipino historians who are 21-40 years of age.

The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), through the Executive Council of the National Committee on Historical Research (NHCR), is pleased to announce the result of the judging for the Young Historian’s Prize 2015 held last September 19, 2016 at the NCCA Building in Intramuros, Manila. The winner is:

Mr. Kerby C. Alvarez for his entry entitled Observatorio de Manila:  Institusyong Pang-agham at ang Ambag nito sa Pagsusulong ng Meteorolohiya sa Pilipinas, 1865-1933. Mr. Alvarez graduated magna cum laude in Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of the Philippines Diliman, Quezon City in 2010.  He finished his Master of Arts in History in April 2014.

The Young Historian’s Prize is a project of the NHCR Executive Council which aims to recognize outstanding works by young Filipino historians who are 21-40 years of age.

Awarding ceremonies will be held on December 5, 2016, Monday at the Bayleaf Hotel, Intramuros, Manila.
