The 4th Malikhaing Guro International Conference on Culture-Based Education will be held on July 4-7, 2017 at the University of the Philippines Los Baños, Laguna.

Theme:  CULTURE-BASED EDUCATION AND ASEAN INTEGRATION: MULTIPLE VOICES, MULTIPLE CONTEXTS”

  1. OBJECTIVE

The purpose of the conference is to gather cultural educators, pedagogues, cultural workers, and arts practitioners across nations and surface their various practices, emerging perspectives, and challenges to the different modalities and contexts of education anchored on culture.

  1. TOPICS

With the conference theme as the general framework, paper presentations are expected to demonstrate reflections, conceptualizations, or arguments on the following topics:

  1. Policy recommendations that should be based on empirical research or innovative teaching strategy/ies.
  2. Curricular design proposal supported by strong empirical evidences.
  3. Professional development recommendations on the basis of needs assessment
  4. Definition or concept paper on culture-based education with supporting theoretical and research-based arguments, including innovative views generated from culture-bearers (IP’s, local people and communities, practitioners)
  5. Proposal or documentation on institutional linkages or people-to-people collaboration and partnerships on culture-based education programs

  1. PAPER PRESENTATIONS
  2. Abstract for proposed paper presentation must be received through email by the Conference Secretariat or before May 31, 2017. The abstract should not exceed 200 words, accompanied by a short author’s relevant professional and personal profile not exceeding 100 words.
  3. Presentations may also be in form of workshop or demonstration of innovative culture-based lessons and instructional materials provided that they are supported by strong empirical evidence.
  4. Abstracts may be written in Filipino or English
  5. Notice of acceptance of abstracts will be released on June 7, 2017.
  6. Full papers of accepted abstracts must be received by the Conference Secretariat no later than June 21, 2017.

    REGISTRATION

  7. Maximum of 300 slots will be allotted to participants from the Department of Education. Priority shall be given to teachers with defined research interests and willing to pursue research in the future.

  9. The conference fee is Php 3,000.00 per person and shall cover conference kit, ID, certificate, lunch and snacks for July 5 & 6. All other expenses not covered by the conference fee shall be charged to the local funds. Conference fee must be paid upon registration.   1. In order for payment to be acknowledged, kindly scan the deposit slip then email to malikhaingguro2017@gmail.com, indicating the name of the participant.
  2. The Secretariat shall send a confirmation of registration via email.
  3. For cancellation of conference registration, the Secretariat must be notified in writing. An 80% refund shall be given for cancellations received on or before June 28, 2017. No refund will be made for cancellations received after this date.
