The Philippine Consulate General and the Laguna Association of Guam (LAG) commemorated the 156 the Birth Anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal on 19 June 2017 with the unveiling of the new Dr. Jose Rizal bust donated by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) installed on the grounds of the newly-constructed Official Residence of the Consul General of the Philippines, 119 Julie Court, Jonestown, Tamuning, Guam.

The program started with the singing of the Philippine National Anthem led by Ms. Agatha de Borja, daughter of the Consul General Marciano R. de Borja.  Consul General de Borja and LAG’s President, Mr. Angel Baldemor led the
unveiling ceremony followed by the traditional wreath offering.

The rest of the program continued inside the Residence with the opening remarks from Mr. Baldemor followed by the remarks and commentary of Consul General de Borja on two video clips shown entitled, “Ang mga ‘secret code’ ni Jose Rizal” and “ Dami ng mga litrato ni Rizal at mga pose niya, hindi pangkaraniwan sa kanyang panahon” culled from GMA News’ feature compilation.

Also part of the program was the donation of two artworks created by Mrs. Mila Moguel, Principal of Eskwelahang Munti ng Guam (EMG) as token of appreciation for the Philippine Consulate’s hosting of EMG.
