Recording artists and actors Sam Concepcion and Tippy Dos Santos are set to represent the Philippines in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Young Contemporary Music Concert happening on August 25, 2017 at the Lao National Cultural Hall, Vientiane, Lao People’s Democratic Republic.
With the conduct of the young contemporary music concert, two young professional and outstanding singers from each ASEAN nation shall join the delegation in Lao PDR to celebrate and help to raise ASEAN awareness through music. Artists shall perform English pop songs and a national contemporary song that will showcase their country’s artistry and diversity.

Concepcion and Dos Santos will represent the Philippines in the five-day event. Both artists are well-known in the local music industry with their background as renowned theatre actors and their work as video jocks for the local music channel MYX. They are also the artists in tandem for the interpretation of the 2013 PhilPop Grand Prize hit “Dati”.
The ASEAN Young Contemporary Music Concert is part of the region-wide celebration of the 50th Founding Anniversary of ASEAN. It seeks to strengthen cultural diversity in the region through people to people exchanges and deepen cultural understanding among neighboring nations. The concert is spearheaded by ASEAN through its Committee on Culture and Information (COCI). As the ASEAN COCI representative in the Philippines, the National Commission for Culture and Arts (NCCA) heads government cultural initiatives to spread ASEAN awareness, promote ASEAN identity, and further establish the ASEAN Community through projects that include people to people exchanges; festivals, performances, and exhibitions; competitions, awards, and recognitions; seminars, trainings and workshops; conferences and fora; including publications and video documentations.
