journeys on a galleon

Journeys on a Galleon was one of the Senator Angara’s last projects inspired by his book and personal narration, which was executed into said production by Director Floy Quintos.

A one (1) hour show – “Journeys on a Galleon traces the history of the Manila Acapulco galleon trade through dance, music and historical tableaux.

The production traces the wealth of the pre-colonial Philippines and the trade relations with China and island South East Asian kingdoms, to the routes that the great galleons sailed.

The influences of other cultures and how they were integrated into our own evolving culture and faith are expressed in an artistic manner, while excerpts and visuals from the book – “The World of the Manila-Acapulco Galleons: The Global and Human Context” by Edgardo Angara and Carlos Madrid, Ph.D., will highlight the historic and factual.

Video capsules by Jen Escalamado.

Performers: featuring Ateneo Chamber Singers, Philippine Ballet Theatre, Ramon Obusan Folkloric Group and the University of the East, Silangan Dance Troupe.
