The Cordillera News Agency Foundation Incorporated [CNA] with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts launches an online creative writing workshop set on November 14 to 16, 2021. The CNA pool of professionals calls on amateurs and enthusiasts who would want to be introduced to the creative writing sphere as well as those who would want to enroll in the masterclasses aimed to gather educators and professionals who would want to level up their skill sets. The series will be led by CNA president, Frank Cimatu, a Baguio-based writer-editor and a two–time Carlos Palanca Awardee for Literature and will lead the masterclass for poetry. Modules will be executed live, via recordings and podcasts in a series of scheduled learning meetings culminating with a live session with mentors, speakers, and participants. For Fiction and Creative Non-Fiction, Dana Batnag takes the reins. Her greatest aspiration in life is to be a storyteller, believing that we see the world through stories. A journalist for the greater part of her life, she has been recognized both for her fiction and non-fiction works, the latest being a 2007 Palanca Award for a Filipino short story and Jaime V. Ongpin fellowship in 2011, for a blog post on the massacre of Army troops in Sulu. The CNA has been a partner of the NCCA since 2016 when the group embarked on the creation of the “Luzon Cultural Sensitivity Manual,” the first manual on culturally sensitive reporting and writing for media and bloggers, the academe, and researchers. |
In 2018, with the help of the NCCA, a new art hub in Sagada Mountain Province was set up dubbed as the “Sagada Dogo Siwang Art Hub,” the year after, the group also embarked on a Luntiang Pook Project for the art hub.
Located in Barangay Patay, along the road towards the famous Bomod-ok Falls and Bangaan Rice Terraces, the hub is modeled from the traditional low beamed traditional hut to house a collection of artifacts, traditional attires and artworks to be viewed by the public.
The area is big enough to house small workshops and talks for students, artists, and culture bearers.
The CNA is a 30–year-old organization based in Baguio City composed of a multi-sectoral group of writers, media practitioners, the academe, and culture bearers.
