The National Commission for Culture and the Arts, led by its chairman Arsenio “Nick” J. Lizaso, OIC-Executive Director Marichu G. Tellano, and OIC-Deputy Executive Director Bernan Joseph R. Corpuz, welcomes SB19 as its new Youth and Sentro Rizal Ambassador.
SB19 was chosen to be the NCCA Youth Ambassadors and face of Sentro Rizal not only because of their growing fanbase and influence in the local and international scenes, but also of their willingness to support the NCCA’s endeavors, as well as for their genuine care for advocacies to uplift the Filipino spirit, music and culture to the global scene, which is in line with the NCCA’s mandate to promote Philippine arts and culture worldwide.
Sentro Rizal (SR), the Philippines’ cultural center for overseas Filipinos and for anyone interested in anything Filipino, was formally established by the NCCA on June 28, 2011 in celebration of the 150th anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal in accordance to the Republic Act 10066 Section 42. Currently, SR has thirty-five (35) sites all over the world and is set to inaugurate an additional site in New York City.
SB19 has also been part of various activities initiated/supported by the NCCA, such as the annual celebration of the Philippines-Korea Cultural Exchange Festival; Padayon: The NCCA Hour; SR San Francisco’s Kalayaan 2021: A virtual celebration of the 123rd Philippine Independence Day and 75th anniversary of Philippine-US relations; SR Berne’s Fernweh Festival; and Sonik Philippines 2021.
