The National Book Development Board (NBDB), the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), and the Office of Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda announce the open call for books 2024. Deadline for submission is July 14, 2024, and publishers will be notified of their approved titles, if any, by July 30, 2024.

The Philippines will be the Guest of Honour country at the 77th Frankfurter Buchmesse (FBM) in 2025. All Philippine publishers are invited to submit copies of their publications for RIGHTS CATALOG and BOOK SALES DISPLAY consideration for Philippine participation at FBM 2024. Participation is open to Philippine publishers duly registered with the NBDB, including publishing enterprises, publishing houses affiliated with institutions, and self-published ventures.

The FBM is the oldest and most significant international publishing industry platform, offering exceptional opportunities for rights selling and greater visibility. Three additional spaces in major areas of FBM 2024 are reserved in the Kid’s Section, Comics and Graphic Novels, and Academic and Textbook Publishing areas.

Selected books will be offered for rights and distribution sales at the upcoming FBM 2024. The criterias for selection are as follows: 1) subject matter should appeal to the interest of the international audience and publishing community; 2) published by a Philippine publisher duly registered with NBDB; 3) international rights are available; 4) for content not written in English, the synopsis and two (2) chapters of the book must have available translations in English. 5) publisher is ready for rights selling (submits perfected metadata and required files, can revert to inquiries within one business day during business days at the FBM); 6) content does not infringe on any copyrighted material; and 7) physical format conforms with existing international standards.
