Genesis: Weaving the Story of Creation transforms the canvas of traditional art into a vibrant tapestry of textiles. Instead of pencils and paintbrushes, the featured artists employ needles, thread, and fabric, crafting intricate pieces that are on display at the NCCA Gallery from October 7 to 31, 2024. Curated by Sedfrey Santiago, the exhibition highlights the works of fifteen talented textile artists: Jorem Biadoma, Margaux Blas, Marionne Contreras, Marita Ganze, Denver Garza, Edenlyn Inot, Olive Jaro Lopez, Liezl Navales, Giah Delos Reyes, Gerome Soriano, Jan Sunday, Randie De Leon Tojos, Maricar Tolentino, Mimi Viola, and Jeona Zoleta. Together, their creations showcase the versatility and beauty of textiles as an artistic medium. From woven fabric to lifelike dioramas, the exhibit emphasizes the transformative potential of thread and cloth in telling stories and evoking emotion. Drawing inspiration from the artists’ personal experiences and their journey toward self-discovery, Genesis invites viewers to reflect on their own lives. The exhibit celebrates humanity’s boundless creativity and the aspiration to embrace one’s divine essence. For visitors, the artworks serve as mirrors, reflecting the artists’ lives, struggles, and triumphs, while encouraging introspection and self-awareness. Genesis: Weaving the Story of Creation runs daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the NCCA Gallery. Admission is free and open to all. For more information, contact Mr. Rene S.
