The Metropolitan Theater kicked off National Arts Month 2025 with a special lighting ceremony on February 3, 2025, illuminating its Singkaban-adorned façade in a dazzling display of seven vibrant colors. The special lights, representing the seven arts, will shine throughout the month of February in celebration of Philippine arts and culture.
Similar to the façade of National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) building, the historic Metropolitan Theater unveiled its own Singkaban-themed façade, reinforcing its role as a cultural landmark.theater for the duration of February.
Present in the lighting ceremony were NCCA Chair Victorino Mapa Manalo, NCCA Executive Director Eric B. Zerrudo, Ph.D., NCCA Deputy Executive Director for Operations Bernan Corpuz, Subcommission on the Arts (SCA) Commissioner Arvin Villalon, SCA Committee heads, and SCA Committee members. The program was also attended by NCCA and Metropolitan Theater staff, performers, and the media as well.

The evening’s festivities featured spoken word poetry by Ivan Jethro Mella, along with spellbinding performances by the Philippine Maharlika Dance Artists, the Balangay Dance Troupe, and the Rondalla ensemble.

The highlight of the night was the ceremonial lighting, led by the NCCA Chair, NCCA Executive Director, and SCA Commissioner, marking the official start of National Arts Month 2025. The program concluded with refreshments, fostering camaraderie among artists and attendees.
With this year’s theme, “Ani ng Sining, Diwa at Damdamin”, the Metropolitan Theater proudly joins the NCCA and SCA in celebrating the richness and depth of Philippine arts and culture.
