Opening on June 9, the latest exhibition at the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) Gallery—“Classics & Ivatan”—will be on view throughout the month of June. The exhibit features the works of Yaru nu Artes Ivatan, an artist collective from Batanes committed to promoting the arts as an eco-friendly and sustainable livelihood that supports indigenous Ivatan culture and heritage. Beyond showcasing skill and creativity, the collective nurtures fellowship in the visual, literary, and performing arts. Its members—passionate young artists—also engage in teaching, community support, and collaborations with local and visiting creatives. Jerish Alcoy, Rhodelyn Come, Lloyd Mina, Marrel Pajanil, Jhai Portez, and Vorz Portez bring their works to the NCCA Gallery in Intramuros, Manila, offering audiences a unique glimpse into Ivatan cultural memory and expression. In a description written by artist and curator Guilbert Bongay, “Classics & Ivatan” is described as both timeless and boundless:
