National Commission for Culture and the Arts Chairperson Felipe M. De Leon Jr. leads the inauguration of Sentro Rizal Doha and Sentro Rizal Cairo this September in the Philippine Embassies situated within respective countries.
Pioneering the back-to-back launch will be the SR Doha inauguration set on September 20, 2016 at the Philippine Embassy St. No. 860 Jelaiah Area Doha، Doha, Qatar. The inauguration will be followed by a lecture to senior high school students of the Philippine School Doha and a cultural visit to Qatar’s prime cultural hub Katara Village.
Following the SR Doha launch will be the inauguration of SR Cairo at the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Egypt 28 Street 200, MAADI، Al Maadi, Cairo on September 25, 2016. NCCA undertakes the establishment of SR Cairo in celebration of the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between RP and the Arab Republic of Egypt.
SR Cairo will be the first Sentro Rizal in the African continent. It will serve as a repository of materials on Filipino art, culture and language both in print and in multimedia format for the Filipino community in Egypt and the Egyptian community who wish to study and learn Filipino culture. NCCA Chairman de Leon will also address the Filipino community in a lecture on Women in Philippine Arts and Culture at the Philippine Embassy alongside Philippine Ambassador to Egypt Leslie J. Baja.
The visit will also be a venue for the Philippines culture and arts sector to push for a strengthened cultural cooperation betweenthe Philippines and Egypt.
To date, there are 18 Sentro Rizals established across the globe and the inauguration of SR Doha and SR Cairo raises the number of SRs to twenty.
