P-­NOiSE NORDLYS Contemporary Choreography, Dance and Performance Edition is happening in Manila on December 15-­18, 2016.  

20  Nordic    dancers  are    coming    to    Manila    for    a  series   of    performances    that    makes    it    the    first    event    of    its   kind   in   the     Philippines.

This   is   part   of   the    70th  year    of  celebrating    diplomatic    relations    between    Denmark    and    the   Philippines.    Jan    top    Christensen,    Ambassador    of    Denmark    to    the    Philippines,    sees    this    as   part    of    Denmark’s    role    of    “Promoting    and    facilitating    initiatives    within    the    cultural    field    to   further    relations    between    people    in    Denmark    and    the    Philippines.”      

Walking  and    Still    Performances    

NORDLYS    (“Northern    Light”)    is    a   collective    of  young    Nordic    artists    that    annually  organizes    a festival    for    innovative    and    experimental    performance    arts    in    Denmark.    For    its    Manila showcase,    the    dance    collective    brings   selected    works    into    a    series    of    walking    performances    to    be    held    at    the    grand    Metropolitan    Theatre.    This    unique    performance    engages    the  audience    with    the    performers    to    explore    the    majestic    space    of    the    Metropolitan    Theatre    –    a    last   hurrah    for    the    theatre    before    it    closes    for    renovation.          

Other  performances    and    works    will    be    featured    at    Pineapple    Lab    in    Makati    during    the Opening    and    Closing    Nights.    Audiences    can    participate    in    talks,    debates,    master    classes,    and    catch  films    and    works    of    art    by    Filipino    and   Nordic    artists.      

P-­NOiSE:    Celebrating    connectivity    and    culture    

P-­NOiSE    has    been    an    evolving    organization    with    a    steadfast    aim    of    promoting    arts,  culture   and    exchange.    According    to    Jacqueline    Cagara    Hansen,    one    of    P-­‐ NOiSE’s    founders,    “In 2012    I    had    the    idea    about    sharing    some    Pinoy    world    music    and    teamed    up    with    talents   and    passionate    Copenhagen-­‐based    Project    Managers.    Since    then,    we’ve    included   contemporary   dance,    art,    film    and    photography    for    festivals    in    Copenhagen    and    Paris.    This    year,    we  want    to    create    history    by    bringing    over    nearly    20    artists    from    the    Nordics    to    Manila   because    P-­‐NOiSE    is    more    than    a    festival,    it’s    a    connection    sharing    art,    culture    and  roots.”
