National Commission for Culture and the Arts OIC Executive Director Marichu Tellano and National Youth Commission Chairperson Cariza Y. Seguerra strengthen the partnership between the culture sector and the youth sector in a symbolic signing of a memorandum of agreement.

“NCCA had been wanting to work with the Commission for the development and promotion of culture and the arts within the youth sector.” NCCA OIC ED said.

Noting NCCA’s openness to ideas and concepts empowering the youth through culture, she added, “We are really looking forward to reach out to more young people especially in the grassroots which I guess aligns with the advocacy and the direction of NYC under the leadership of USEC Seguerra. We thank you for such willingness and generosity into bringing NCCA into your folds. Sana magiging umpisa po ito ng mas matibay na pagtutulungan para sa kabataan.”

NYC Chairperson Seguerra also expressed her excitement in joining the culture and arts sector. She particularly noted that this partnership would be an opportunity to show the youth that arts and culture is something that can be enjoyed not just by the privileged but by every Filipino.

“We know that arts and culture is for the soul and excited ako sa mga pwede nating gawin, sa mga pwede nating maimpart sa mga kabataan natin. Excited ako na makikita nila na ang arts and culture ay hindi lang pang-mataas, pang elitista but it’s for everybody. I’m happy that now, because of this project /partnership magkakaroon ng mas malalim na kaalaman ang mga kabataan and they will get to enjoy the differences that we have and embrace our diversity.” Seguerra added.

Aside from the MOA signing, Chairperson Seguerra also visited the NCCA Gallery which currently features the works of National Artist Abdulmari Asia Imao.
