BELAKO MEETS SHE’S ONLY SIXTEEN

Since 2016, the Philippine-Spanish music project Posporos has showcased indie music talents from both countries, giving them the opportunity to experience each other’s music. Posporos has already featured 18 Spanish and Filipino music bands, 6 DJs, and 9 different venues across Manila.

Posporos will set local music enthusiasts on fire again on July 7 when powerful bands Belako (Spain) and She’s Only Sixteen (Philippines) take center stage at the XXXX club in Makati in a new edition of this series of concerts and side-events organized by the Embassy of Spain and the Instituto Cervantes de Manila with the support of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA). Kiko Escora will be in charge of closing the night with his inimitable spinning style. Official music channel partner of the concert: MTV.

More than just a concert, Posporos Sírkulo + Posporos Sa Ilog + Posporos Hotel will provide a space where artists exchange ideas, share experiences and participate in a diverse range of activities, from workshops to roundtable discussions on the music industry.

POSPOROS SIRKULO

On July 5, Posporos Sirkulo will gather a large number of artists and music industry professionals and stakeholders at the auditorium of the NCCA in Intramuros. The program, open to the public but registration required, will consist of 3 roundtable discussions on Artist Management and Events, Music Marketing and Distribution and Philippine Music Media.

Also on July 5, Posporos Sa Ilog will take the conversation onboard a chartered ferry and out onto the Pasig River. A group of artists and producers from the music industry, and work its way from Intramuros upriver to Poblacion, with guests mingling, checking out the city’s riverbanks, and enjoying an exclusive set by Kiko Escora.

The evening will end with a double-feature line-up of intimate performances by Ben&Ben and Mulan. The performances will be open to the public at 8 p.m. at Pineapple Lab on Palma St., an arts and performance hub situated in the heart of Poblacion. The event Posporos Sa Ilog is supported by Intramuros Administration and sponsored by Don Papa Rum.

POSPOROS HOTEL

The residency Posporos Hotel will start on July 8 in Dolores (Quezon Province), uniting Belako and world music rock band from the Philippines Talahib People’s Music in a joint effort to explore the roots of Philippine folk music. The residency will culminate in a performance of both bands that will be recorded in the heart of the jungle.

Posporos Sirkulo and Posporos Hotel are supported by the Spanish Cooperation Agency (AECID) through the ACERCA Program, created in 2005 to implement the First Line of Action in Culture and Development: Training Human Capital in the Cultural Sector.

Its main objective is the enhancement of the skills of partners of Spanish Cooperation in all cultural fields. One of the main lines of action is the training and capacity-building of cultural players and managers from public and private institutions to contribute to the improvement in the promotion of culture of partner countries. It is also directed towards facilitating the meeting of experts and professionals with a view to establishing cooperation mechanisms, regional strategies and the creation of networks. ACERCA likewise seeks to reinforce institutions and consolidate state policies on culture through the development of specific training programs at the request of counterpart institutions.
