In observance of the 124th Philippine Independence Day, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), in partnership with SM Supermalls and Likhaan Resource Center, present HINABING BUHAY: Living Traditions of Weaving and Embroidery.

The HINABING BUHAY: Living Traditions of Weaving and Embroidery, curated by curated by Edgar “Egai” T. Fernandez, is an exhibition that highlights the traditional artists, their works, materials, and the process of creating the crafts that gives emphasis on the legacy, experiences, and ingenious knowledge of traditional artists.
An opening ceremony will be held on June 5, 2022 at the SM Megamall with performances from NCCA Ani ng Dangal awardee, Kammerchor Manila; spoken word poetry from RR Cagalingan; contemporary dance performance from Tanghalang Bagong Sibol; folk dance from Marikina Dance Guild, and hiphop performance from FCPC Baliktanaw. Moreover, Adelaida Ahaddas, a Yakan from Basilan Province, conducted a weaving demo.
On the other hand, Dr. Emmanuel Franco Calairo will discuss the significance of observing the Philippine Independence Day.
HINABING BUHAY: Living Traditions of Weaving and Embroidery is on display at the SM Megamall from June 1 to 7, 2022. Meanwhile, at the Podium, the exhibition is on display from June 8 to 14, 2022.
This year, the 124th Philippine Independence Day banners the theme KALAYAAN 2022: Pagsuong sa Hamon ng Panibagong Bukas.
