“Stitching Faith & Fashion” a solo exhibition by Steve De Leon is exhibited from December 07, 2022 – January 31, 2023 at the NCCA Gallery.

The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) is pleased to present the exhibit “Stitching Faith and Fashion” featuring the artworks of the avant-garde artist, Steve de Leon. On view at the NCCA Gallery are the artist’s unconventional art to wear draped on mannequins representing Jesus, Peter, and Judas – three significant characters in the Last Supper, which is also rendered in a huge tapestry of mixed media such as nacre, vintage fabrics, wooden and glass beads, etc. Also shown are scenes from The Betrothal of Mary to Joseph, and Nativity depicted in the artist’s signature style.

“Stitching Faith and Fashion” is essentially the artist’s interpretation of the Luminous Mystery of the Holy Rosary as expressed in two artistic disciplines – fashion and the visual arts – that he has mastered and for which art practice he has been recognized. De Leon received the Designer of the Year medal from the Manila Fashion Designer Award (MFDA) Foundation in 1990, and was one of the Five Grand Prize Winners in the Philippine Art Awards in 1995. And he continues to create artworks that challenge the status quo and traditional taste.

“Stitching Faith and Fashion” is on from December 7, 2022 to January 31, 2023, from Mondays to Thursdays, 9:00AM – 6:00PM, Fridays & Saturdays, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
