In celebration of National Arts Month, the National Committee on Architecture and the Allied Arts led by LAr. Cathe Desiree Nadal is once again spearheading SAAN KA LULUGAR (SKL) 2025: Resiliency in the Built and Design Environment.
Saan Ka Lulugar holds architecture workshops among other activities for National Arts Month 2025.
Established in 2021, SKL is a series of seminars, walking tours, and workshops that extend the Architecture and Allied Arts dialogue to the community during Arts Month. This year, SKL banners the theme “Bayan Ko, Saan Ka Lulugar sa Aming Diwa’t Damdamin?”. It expresses a dynamic synergy between thought and feeling (intellect and emotion) in defining a person’s place, an intergenerational approach of showcasing the role of Architecture and the Allied Arts can be achieved, truly bringing in our shared narrative in nation building.
Through workshops, talks, and walking tour, SKL 2025 will bring to the forefront discussion on values that are truly Filipino, and will serve as a platform in exploring the intellectual understanding (mind) and emotional connection (heart) of the evolving concept of home using the lens of culture and the arts. It is set to take place at Kublai Art Garden Digos City, Davao Del Sur on February 22 to 25.
These activities highlight the diverse viewpoints and relevance of the country’s architecture and allied arts in each region featured. Additionally, it seeks to emphasize the importance of design, the physical environment, and artistic expressions in expressing our shared goals and hardships as a Filipino nation.
This February, the Philippines celebrates National Arts Month (NAM) by virtue of Presidential Proclamation 683 signed in 1991 by then President Corazon C. Aquino and SKL is part of the overall celebration. As the nation’s prime cultural agency, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), led by its chairman Victorino Mapa Manalo and executive director Eric B. Zerrudo, Ph.D., invites the public to come together to honor the transformative power of the arts in our communities, and to recognize the brilliance of Filipino artists.
For 2025, NCCA’s NAM celebration banners the theme “Ani ng Sining: Diwa at Damdamin” (Harvest of the Arts: Soul and Passion), emphasizing that creativity of a nation springs forth from the spirit and passion of its people.
The NCCA encourages everyone to join us and celebrate the richness of the Filipino arts and culture.
Halina’t Maki-Sining!
