narra

(declared by Gov. Gen. Frank Murphy through Proclamation No. 652 s. 1934)

The narra is widely distributed in Borneo, Myanmar, New Guinea and the Malay Peninsula. It can reach a height of 100 feet and has a large crown of leaves. The trunk widens up to three feet. The yellow heartwood is very durable and has a fragrant odor, which persists even when dry.
